The subject of the college conference in Toronto was "Amazing Grace". The brother said that we had a lot of things which we tried to overcome. I liked very much the chorus of the song which we sang in the conference. It says, "Sometimes I try and I succeed. Sometimes I try in vain. Jesus lives! Within me Jesus lives! Whatever the case my only need is simply to enjoy Him. Jesus lives! And I'm finding now. His life to me He gives!" It's so wonderful. Sometimes I try and I succeed. Sometimes I try in vain. It doesn't matter. Jesus lives! Jesus lives in me. What we need to do is just keeping coming to Him again and again.
What God wants to do is giving Himself to us. John 1:16 says, "For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace." Although the problem may still remain, our business is receiving and receiving. Grace is not you. It is about another person. Grace is about another person's work. Grace is not you change better. Change itself is not grace. But grace will change us according to God's schedule. The change is so gradually that we don't ever see. Grace did change Paul. 1 Timothy 1:13-15 Paul says, "I formerly was a blasphemer and a persecutor and an insulting person; but I was shown mercy because, being ignorant, I acted in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord superabounded with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Faithful is the word and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am foremost." Ephesians 3:8 Paul says, "To me, less than the least of all saints, was this grace given to announce to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ as the gospel." 1 Corinthians 15:9-10 Paul says, "For I am the least of the apostles, who am not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am; and His grace unto me did not turn out to be in vain, but, on the contrary, I labored more abundantly than all of them, yet not I but the grace of God which is with me." Grace changed Paul from a former sinner to the least saint, and from the least saint to the least apostle because the grace was with him. So forget who you are. Just enjoy grace. Only focus on Him and His work. It is a great revelation to me. It makes me to turn from myself to Christ. I am not the center of the universe. Only Christ is the center of the universe! What we need to do is enjoying Christ. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:10, "But by the grace of God I am what I am; and His grace unto me did not turn out to be in vain, but, on the contrary, I labored more abundantly than all of them." The grace unto Paul did not turn out to be in vain, but, on the contrary, he labored more abundantly than other apostles. So we can't just enjoy grace and don't let it flow out. Grace wants to come out. We can not hide grace which we enjoy. We need to cooperate with the grace which is in us. If a person asks a question about Jesus, it means that he is interested in Jesus. We should detect it and should not be light with it. We just cooperate with the grace which is in us. The effect is incredible! |
